During scaling, we remove plaque and tartar from your teeth and roots, including deep under the gums. Root planing smooths the root surfaces so gum tissue can reattach more easily. It is recommended when pockets between the teeth and gums are deeper than about three to four millimetres.

After Your Treatment
- Numbness wears off in a couple of hours. Avoid chewing until then.

- Rinse with warm salt water if recommended and keep brushing gently.
- Use any prescribed rinse as directed.
- Call us for swelling, fever, heavy bleeding or pain that does not improve.
